Disparities in Behavioral Health and Healthcare: Understanding the Intersections of Identity, Culture, and Geography

10:00 am - 11:00 am
Disparities in behavioral health care refer to differences in outcomes and access to services related to mental health, behavioral health, and substance use which are experienced by groups based on their cultural, social, ethnic, and economic status.
West Virginia is a state whose population largely experiences behavioral health disparities due to historical exploitation, community disruption, and other systemic challenges.
This training will deepen participants understanding of how the intersection of socioeconomic status, race, identity, culture, and geography can put individuals at heightened risk for experiencing disparities and offer strategies providers can use to respond to systemic barriers.
